Saturday Sweep

Team 1 took care of business in their double-header. In game one, they defeated Team 3 9-1, thanks in part to a 6-run fifth inning. Dan Scott, Michael Corrigan and Dave Williams each had a pair of hits and Williams also drove in two. Joining Williams in the RBI department was Joe Longawa who had a pair as well. Jeremiah Torres threw four scoreless innings allowing two hits while striking out three. Chris Slade, Ulises Ortiz and Andrew Veach closed out the game. The trio allowed just one run on five hits.

In game two, Team 1 would face-off against Team 2 in a battle for first place. Team 1 would strike first with a run in the first. The game would see-saw back and forth when Team 2 scored twice in the top of the second. Team 1 would answer with two of their own making the score 3-2 in favor of Team 1. Team 2 would come back with two more in the top of the third giving them a 4-3 lead. It would stay that way until a 4-run fifth for Team 1 broke the game open. Team 2 would add a run in the sixth but it was too little, too late. Justin Moriarty was the only one from Team 1 to post a multi-hit game and Michael Corrigan continued to swing the bat well, driving in two. For Team 2, Andrew Highland, Joe Turek and Peter Romanello each had a pair of hits.

After the sweep, Team 1 has taken a sizeable lead in the standings, but the point crown is still up for grabs. Action will pick up on Tuesday at 1:30 pm.
