Lab Notes: Summer Edition, 7/29

In this edition of Lab Notes: Summer Edition, we take a look at one of the teams with the strongest ties to the Storm baseball team. Formerly known as the Carolina Stingers, the Ballantyne Smokies have hosted several Storm players each year including current players Zach Mosbarger and Jimmie Shaw, as well as former players in Mike Backes, Jae Leeworthy, Mike Morgan, Reid Rizzo, and Ryan Rua. The Smokies recently clinched the SCBL World Series title with a 12-2 victory over the Carolina Chaos.

Cody Blood (@cblood17), Ballantyne Smokies - Cody is hitting .250 in 27 games. In only 68 at-bats, Blood has racked up 4 doubles and driven in 10 and has an OPS of .670.

Tyler Minnich (@tylerminnich), Ballantyne Smokies - Tyler is 2-1 with a 5.25 ERA in 36 innings pitched. He has made eight appearances with seven of them coming as starts. It's good news when Tyler pitches. The Smokies are 7-1 (6-1 as a starter) when Tyler takes the ball on any given day.
