The Score: Black 4, Red 3. Lineups
Offense: The offense came in spurts with the victorious Black team getting some bookend runs with a pair in the 1st and a pair the 5th inning. The Red team notched a 3-spot in the 4th thanks to hits by Kevin Sloat, Jake Celleghin, and a RBI-single for Andrew Pluckebaum, all three would come around to score. The victory was secured after a pair of walks, a passed ball, a throwing error, and a base hit over a drawn in infield by Nic Sampognaro.
Defense: The pitching was solid with the exception of a few too many walks. David Schurr threw a pair of scoreless innings, escaping a few tight spots in the process. Not much in the way of spectacular plays to report—no double plays, no relays—and unfortunately, it was the throwing error that resulted in the runners to get in scoring position to score the winning run.
Overall: It wasn't a sloppy game by any means but it could have used a little cleaning up. Walks, throwing errors, and passed balls all lead to unearned runs, which played a direct role in determining tonight's winner.
Quote of the Day: "No comment." Nic Sampognaro on his "walk-off" single.
